Wood Fired Oven get's a ROCK lift!

Work coming along on the 42" wood fired oven which is a feature in the outside kitchen at Poggio Secco. After the second firing, we can report that the pizza coming out tastes JUST like the real deal from Naples Italy. JUST like it. Here the oven get's it's rock veneer. One of the few crews we hired for this project. They rocked it in a day and a half! Jim helped moving stone and picking up field stone from the property which was also incorporated in the veneer.

In building our house we have a pretty extreme Western exposure. Topography of the building site really couldn't be avoided. So we built with 2x6 framing and completely filled in the walls with spray in foam. Couple that with very energy efficient Pella windows and we can afford the views like you see here. This is last nights 40,000 foot thunderhead across the valley from our Poggio Secco (Dry Hill) that created some breathtaking views. Needless to say, it didn't stay dry for long with a summer shower that washed over us last night. It was actually pretty pleasant.
