I can officially be a Roman aqueduct builder!

The first two arches for the front entry of the actual wood fired oven are complete. STANDING even! I had to build special forms to support the precut fire brick then set it. These arches make up the interior flue area in front, and will continue to the brick ledge out front with another
decorative arch at the face of the brick. I can't believe how many people are following our build here. It's exciting.

Hangin with the Rock Solid guys.

Dean and Derek from DIY's Rock Solid and the new show Indoors Out, hanging out with us at KLBJ with a live interview with Dudley and Bob. Funny stuff. Then we hopped in my studio at the station for a quick pod cast which can be heard here: INTERVIEW

They truly are nutty.

In action shots, with second course of fire brick going up.

Second course in and the prep for the landing in front of the actual opening is done. Right above the landing will be the chimney flue. There will be multiple arches that enter the actual oven. The guys from Rock Solid (stone masons) can't believe I'm doing it this way. Very old school, but very much the right way to build one of these. It will get to 1000 degrees in there. Special shout out to the folks at Acme Brick company of Austin. They have been wonderful and the fire brick quality is amazing! Oh, and this day was like 46 degrees and high winds.

The Dome will rise! Like the Pizza! ;)

Today spent all day cutting and dry fitting the "soldier" course of the pizza oven. Also framed in the opening door. Wow this is huge. 42" diameter which is rather large for a non commercial oven. Loving it! Then right before sunset, I mortared them all together. FIRST COURSE DONE! Woo hoo!
