A niche that needs filled... for the FIRST TIME!
It's amazing how many of you actually visit our little home build site. We get call saying... "hey, where are my pictures??!?" Hey.. SIMMER DOWN NOW!! ;) Not too much going on until we get plumbing done. Stone can't go up and the tile roof can't go on until electrical is finished. Still a couple of weeks out. SO.... doing some last minute interior touches.... Jim did his first ever framing for a niche at the master bathroom tub. Pretty cool!
Also this weekend we finally sold the Vespa that Peg won and then donated to her dog rescue group http://www.austincockerrescue.org/. All proceeds go to org. We loaded it up in the back of the truckster and bringing into town Today.
We'll snap some pics of interior plumbing this week. Also see if there are other places to put niches.

listelli e fusilli
e zuppe di pietra! Good shot of the type of fireplace, complete with firebrick installed. Ever since we started this process, we wanted an Isokern fireplace. Ease of a slide in, with the look of a true built on site masonry fireplace. In Austin, the Isokern rep to contact is Joe at Fireplace Systems (http://www.fireplace-systems.com/). Great company, excellent price and expert installation!!

one flue over...
Our soon-to-be range hood.
This was an antique we found in San Marcos. It's a fire pit cover that was in a hacienda in Mexico for many years. We are having it fabricated into our vent hood over our range. it's old hand hammered copper and will have a stainless steel insert with lights and a fan that is located outside of the house, so it will be very quiet. Fabrication will be done by Texas Light Smith.

Button it up, stain and drain!
Today, the final Pella doors go up, making it completely dried in at this point. The last small over hang above the downstairs bathroom door goes in. And TANKS.... your welcome! ;) sorry, family joke... Septic is almost finished before it is covered up. The start of the wood staining outside under patios really gives the old world look we are going for. Coordination of colors between the trim, windows/doors and overhangs is awesome. It's really starting to take shape. The plumbing, electric and heating/air go in starting this week.

Sunday, not a day of rest when it comes to paint!
Nick and his crew come to paint eves and overhangs. Excellent match for the windows! Today, Peg had Austin Cocker Rescue duties, and Jim went to Schlitterbahn water park with friends Bryan, Jan and Geoffrey. Next item? Finish last minute framing, and deck the patio covers hopefully on Monday.
